The announcement of Pengu's retirement arouse great interest about who will replace a legendary player like Pengu on G2 Esports lineup. Only a single day later, G2 released the answer: British player Jordan "Kayak" Morley will fill the empty spot. Until this point, Kayak played under various regional organisations such as Fierce Esports or MnM Gaming before qualifying for EUL with Cowana Gaming. Although he does not have a wealth of experience so far, Kayak was still was one of the most impactful players during the EUL Relegations.

Although this roster change will probably surprise many, it is not completely unexpected. G2 has acquired players with less experience (compared to the rest of the squad) multiple times already, such as German player cryn in Pro League Season 11 or Hungarian player SirBoss as a replacement for cryn at the Six Invitational 2020.
