G2 benches Kanto and UUNO, signs Hungry and Jonka

After two years of many roster changes and mixed results, G2 benches the last remaining world champion of the Six Invitational 2019, Kantoraketti, as well as UUNO.

It has been only three months since G2 acquired Kayak before doing another roster change - this time the two longest standing members of the team will be replaced. After a disappointing showing in both EUL 2021 Stage 1 as well as at the Six Invitational 2021, G2 Esports decided to bench Juhani "Kantoraketti" Toivonen as well as Aleksi "UUNO" Työppönen. They get replaced by German players Lucas "Hungry" Reich and Jonas "Jonka" Kaczmarzyk.
Kantoraketti has been a member of G2 Esports since 2018, filling the empty spot of SHA77E a few months after winning SI 2018. Alongside legendary players like Pengu, Fabian, jNSzki and Goga, Kanto won multiple trophies such as Dreamhack Winter 2018, Pro League Season 8 and the Paris Major 2018 before claiming victory at the biggest event in Siege Esports, the Six Invitational. After defending their title at SI19, G2 decided to bring on UUNO to replace jNSzki. This was the turning point for G2: A close loss at the Raleigh Major 2019 resulted in more and more roster changes that have been ongoing until today, generating only little success so far.
To turn it around for G2, two strong support players have been brought on board: Hungry and Jonka. Hungry has been a part of the Siege Esport scene since Year 2, playing for various organisations such as 1UP Esports, Mock-It Esports, Penta Sports and Team Vitality. Although he hasn't been able to claim big titles so far, he brings a lot of experience to the team and definitely has the potential to be one of the top players in Europe. Jonka on the other hand has been fairly new to the competitive scene, playing mostly for T2 teams such as CR4ZY and MnM Gaming in Challenger League and UKIN. Although he failed to qualify for EUL with MnM Gaming, he still showed a lot of potential, which could be developed with G2 even more.

Statistics for MnM Gaming in their relegation match against Rogue

G2 Esports will play their first match with this new roster in the GSA League today at 18.30 CEST.
